CELEBRATING FIRSTS

To Iysa, my granddaughter: I can’t help smiling every time I look at this photo of you. You are two-years old and growing up so quickly, proud of your achievement – your first. These firsts make life magical, those moments of discovery and victory. I treasure these for you, and I wish you many more. I also know that as you travel through life, you’ll suffer setbacks and heartaches (for this is what it is to be human), but for today we celebrate your wondrous milestone and say, “Brava, Iysa! Good for you.” Love you, my dearest little angel.

Today’s Promise to consider: Life can be difficult and at times it can be tragic, but for today I’ll remember my child’s firsts, her achievements, and I’ll celebrate. These moments of beauty might carry me through the hardships. Today, I will live in a space of gratitude.

Libby, this picture of your granddaughter brings tears of joy to my eyes as I think of my own 2 year old granddaughter. They are truly a blessing! When things get really bad and I feel hope beginning to slip away, I simply have to think of my beautiful granddaughter and things don’t seem so bad. Today I too will live in a space of gratitude. Although things are not perfect, I do have so very much to be grateful for. Thanks for all you do and for the peace I find here on this page. Much love, Penny

Dear Libby,

This picture of your granddaughter is precious. You can tell she is so thrilled about her achievement! And what a huge achievement it is!

Our lives are full of achievements, and full of setbacks. We can only put one foot in front of the other and move on when we suffer the setbacks.

One month ago, I became a great, great grandmother. My son’s, son and his wife had their first baby. He looks so much like my son when he was born.

So, I celebrate my first great, great grandchild and hope to be blessed with many more! It truly is a beauty that carries me through the difficult days.

Oops…I’m a great grandmother! Not a great, great grandmother. 🙂 But, I do hope that someday I will achieve the status! 🙂

God Bless you all

Dear Penny, Children light up our lives. They remind us of life and love and hope!

Dear Barbara, Congrats on being a great grandmother!!! Your great-grandson looks like your son when he was born. This makes me smile with joy.

Life can be magical, but during the difficult times it’s hard to remember those moments. I hesitated posting this photo of my little one, but decided that there was a message for me in her smile (and in my son’s smile).

Love you all.

Hi Libby and all,
Here’s to celebrating Lysa and all the children who bring us joy and hope. I love the picture of Lysa and Jeremy…it is a reminder of the blessings in our lives.
Thank you, as always, for these gentle and comforting meditations.
Love,
Nanci

The innocence of children, memories of what I loved about being a mother of small children. Those sweet “firsts”, that brought so much joy. Joy that gave way down the road to not so sweet “firsts”, and all the rest to follow. Growing up and accepting all that is our humanity. Living life on life’s terms one day at a time. Enjoy the innocence once again Libby. She is beautiful

Thanks, Nanci and Jane, for your support and care. Jane, your thought about how innocent, first joys morph into ‘not so sweet firsts’ later on in life. So true. I agree – we need to learn how to live life on life’s terms one day at a time. Blessings.
